But then a couple of years later, I watched his 'magnum opus', the highly regarded four hour movie that is 'Love Exposure'. 27th full length movie by Japanese director Sion Sono? What the fuck? The first time I noticed a movie by Sono was probably around 2005 or so, when I stumbled across his 2001 movie 'Suicide Club', which I then promptly didn't watch. So my visit to Bad Wimpfen seemed like a perfect opportunity to finally watch that movie together with my gracious host. So long in fact, that I had completely forgotten that I owned that movie, until I noticed it lying around on a pile of DVDs.

And so after some tribulations, I managed to acquire a Region 1 DVD of the movie (there seems to be a European BluRay-release but that has been strictly limited and is almost impossible to come by). 'So why not check out 'Why Don't You Play In Hell?'?', I asked myself. if I were to remake my 'Top 50 Movies Of All Time'-list (and I'm gonna do that at some point in time), it would probably make that list. So my interest was piqued, because 'One Cut Of The Dead' is really, REALLY good. He liked it a lot and afterwards, he told me that it kind of reminded him of that one movie he had seen at a film festival eight years or so ago, called 'Why Don't You Play In Hell?'.
